DJs

We have reception music! We know two guys from NKU who have been getting into the DJ business quietly. If you're in the Cincinnati area, you definitely want their information! They are Keith Reed and Mike Fitzpatrick, and they make up MKProductions. They are absolutely awesome!

We met with the guys at Applebees last week. Nice and laid back, exactly as we expected. They've been holding our date without a deposit or contract, but again, we know them. They gave us some great ideas to help the flow of things. They prefer to work out a playlist for the evening instead of winging it - great! I love knowing ahead of time what's going to happen. It also allows that I can work in my "break" songs so that I'm guranteed to have them spread out, instead of all at once!

Their recommendations for flow:
After introductions, go straight into the formal dances. You already have everyone's attention, so why not use it? Do the first dance, dad/daughter, mother/son, and if you are doing a bridal party dance, get them all finished.

Then cut the cake. This allows the caterer to cut the cake while everyone is eating dinner, and if it is your only dessert, it is ready whenever people are ready to eat their sweet.

Then go into dinner!

I'm really excited that we get to work with the guys - they are super nice, and we know they'll do a great job for us. Knowing just how involved they are personally with each event makes it even more exciting for us!

Rehearsal Dinner Location!

When we changed churches, it started us back at square one for the rehearsal dinner location. We have found one we love - Ertel's Winery in Batesville, IN. David and his parents went and checked it out yesterday, and we officially have it reserved! Here are a few of the pictures from their website - it is a gorgeous location, and their wine is divine!
An archway that I am determined to also find and take pictures in!

Rings!

That's right, we have our rings! The local jewelry store that David has bought a lot of my gifts from was going out of business. So we went in to look (I had seen one that I loved!) and ended up walking out with both of our rings! They are from Benchmark, so come with lifetime warranties and re-sizing. Good thing, because David decided he really liked a Titanium band. If it ever breaks, they replace it. Need it resized? They send us a brand new ring. I'm excited!

Location, location, location!

Terribly sorry for the long gap - the last month+ of school was crazy hectic. Now it's summer and time for more wedding planning!

We changed our locations. I don't know if I ever actually posted them on here, but we changed them. We will now be getting married at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, IN. This is the church connected to the school I teach at, and I'm very excited about this decision! We will be married by my favorite priest out there, Father Dennis. He is great to work with, and has always been wonderful about answering all of my questions, so I can't wait to talk with him more about wedding plans! Here's a sneak peek at the inside:

Isn't it gorgeous?!? And if you look to the right of the first photo, you can see the piano I play for every school mass!

As for our reception, the slopes were looking less and less perfect. We stumbled onto someplace that just called to us: the Sunman American Legion Hall! It is only a few years old, and is definitely still "new". It's very spacious, with a higher ceiling than other places we have seen. It has a stage - we need to look at it again, but depending on how you access the stage, that may be where we put the head table. I'm very excited, as our caterer is of course welcome since they don't have in-house catering! I fell in love with Travis's food and had to find a hall that would allow us to bring him in. I'm so glad we did! Here's the pictures, although they are of an awful quality:
